WHAT YOU NEED:

A Vinyl Shoe Decal (buy an ‘I do’ one on Love Life Lettering’s site here) - I used Ritrama Permanent Vinyl
Transfer tape/paper (Comes in rolls on Amazon but LLL include it with all of their designs)
Clean Shoes (ideally with a smooth sole)

STEP ONE:

Unless it has already been weeded, get rid of the vinyl that is outside of your letters so you're just left with the words and numbers that you want to stick on your shoes. Make sure to get the vinyl that's inside of the letters too, but don't accidentally peel off any dots or smaller characters either.

STEP TWO:

Take your transfer paper and lay it over the top of your wording, trying to get it as straight as possible. Then, using a store card (I use a plastic loyalty card) or a cricut/silhouette vinyl applicator if you have one, smooth down the transfer tape to get rid of any bumps or air bubbles.

STEP THREE:

Once you're happy that your transfer tape is fully stuck down, peel the paper off the back of the shoe decal, making sure you don't take any of the letters with you. The slower the better so that if you do see any letters peeling back with the paper, you can stick them back to the transfer tape without losing them.

STEP FOUR:

The fourth and last step is to place your vinyl decals on to your shoes. Figure out where you want to place them, making sure the surface is clean, dry and as smooth as possible and then stick the transfer tape down. Use your store card/applicator again to smooth down the sticker, making sure there are no air bubbles or bumps in the vinyl.

Once you're happy that they're stuck down fully, peel the transfer tape off slowly. Go around your letters and give them one more final press down to make sure they're definitely secure, and then that is it done! Repeat for the other shoe, making sure you line them up next to each other and that the vinyl is in the same place on both.

My shoes did have a slight raised bit on the bottom but were mostly smooth so still worked... I would recommend you choose as smooth a sole or surface as possible for the vinyl to last longer!

These decals are such a lovely idea, and add an extra special touch. Just remember though that they may not last all night, and the lighter coloured vinyl may get dirty quickly so try and get your photo opportunities in the bag before you hit the dance floor!
