1.     Pine Cones

If you're going for an autumnal or outdoor theme then using pine cones is a very cheap and easy way to add some extra rustic detail to your celebration.

To stand your place cards up, stand a pine cone flat on it’s bottom and saw a slice part way into each one. You will need to make sure that the writing is placed high enough on the name card so that it can be still be read clearly.

If thats a bit too DIY heavy for you then do what I did for my own wedding party instead - tie some luggage labels to each pine cone...

Or... if you're having a winter theme wedding, you could spray them with silver glitter or white snow spray for an extra magical touch.

2. Mini Easels

Your escort card really will look like a work of art with a miniature easel, and they are a simple and quick option if you're short on time.

You can also use them for other things, like displaying labels for food and drinks.

Find them online in packs of 10 or more on Amazon

3. Baubles

Although possibly a bit predictable, baubles are the perfect choice for a Wedding taking place in the lead up to Christmas. They also double as something your guests can keep forever, meaning you can skip the favours if you want to.

Buy a cheap box of blank baubles, or if you haven't made your name cards already, try writing each name straight onto the bauble itself with a sharpie.

4. Sprig/Flower

This is one of my favourite wedding escort cards ideas and is a very elegant but simple solution to making your place names look that little bit more interesting.

Take a sprig of a herb or a single flower that matches your theme and table decor and place it on the the napkin for your table, tying them both together with some simple twine, along with your place name card.

The beauty of this is that you can do so many different colour combinations and it can go with any theme of wedding throughout the year.

5. Corks

This may take a lot of wine drinking (I know, how terrible!) but ask all of your friends and family to save their corks throughout the year for you as well, or if you don't have time, get a job lot like this pack here on Amazon which are actually very reasonable.

You can either cut a slice in the side and display them like in the picture to the left, or stand them up so the card is at a 90 degree angle to the cork. Or make a slit in the top of the cork and stand it up with the card balanced above. Whatever way you do it, it's sure to impress all of your wine loving guests.

6. Shells

If you're having a beach or seaside them wedding, or even if you're not, there are so many different ways that you can incorporate shells into your wedding decor.

This way on the right uses lots of different shells, but you can keep them all the same and tie your name tag to each one. Or if you're feeling more confident, get some of those big pearl oyster shells and write each guests name on one for an extra special touch.

If you want your shells to look a bit more professional then check out JGrahamLettering on Etsy who ships beautiful calligraphy shells worldwide.

7.  Something edible

If you're trying to keep your guests well fed, and/or double up your name tags as favours then a food related escort card holder is the way to go. Tie your cards to the sticks of cake pops, adhere them to jars with candy in them or stick them in some chocolate with cocktail sticks...

The list is endless, and you can give as little or as much as you want, your guests will always be happy with something delicious to eat.

8. Toy animals

A bit more of a quirky option, get some plastic animals like in the picture, spray them the theme colour of your wedding and tie your escort cards to them or screw a holder in like these amazing ones below from UnconventionalJ

This is an especially good one if you have lots of kids coming!

9. Tie them to chairs

If you have some gorgeous rented chairs don't let them go unnoticed. Equally, if your chairs are quite plain then tying name tags to them is a great way to dress them up.

Also useful if you have small tables or lots going on and limited space to put anything extra.

And probably the easiest option if you have already decided on an awesome favour, just tie your name cards to whatever you have decided to gift and kill two birds with one stone.
