The Best Ways to Announce Your Engagement
Your other half proposed, it was such a special moment and you want to share that with everyone you know... why would you announce it with a simple facebook status?
Yes, we can't all make royal announcements like Meghan Markle and her Prince but there are lots of easy ways to let everyone know your happy news.

1. Hold a sign
It's kind of stating the obvious when you're holding it with your shiny new ring finger in plain view, but a sign will add an extra special touch to any announcement. With loads of phrase options like '2 less fish in the sea', 'she said yes', 'I'm going to be a (insert future surname)... you can tailor it to suit you both completely, or simply just have an elegant sign with your date on, and that way you can keep it forever!
2. With a pet
If you both have a fur-baby and they're a big part of your life then getting them to make the big announcement is guaranteed to gain lots of 'awww's.
Make your own sign for them to wear, buy one, or just have their paw on top of yours when you're taking the big ring picture.
Maybe not one to try if your pet doesn't like to sit still, but definitely one to consider, especially if you have a puppy as cute as this one on the right.
3. With a child
Just as cute as a pet announcement, if you have small children, or even a mini-me relative, getting them to announce your news is a great way to get them involved and have adorable pictures that you can keep forever.
Again have them hold a sign or just incorporate them into your photos somehow.
4. Starbucks Cups
A huge trend I've been seeing lots of lately is His and Hers matching Starbucks cups. With a Starbucks on nearly every corner, it is a quick and cheap way to add a prop to your photos, especially if you are both coffee lovers...
5. Write in the sand
If you live by a beach, or are lucky enough to get proposed to somewhere by the sea, then writing in the sand is a super cute and easy way to make that announcement.
Get some other photos of you on the beach too and collect some shells and you can incorporate those into your wedding day.
6. Tshirt
If you want to wait to announce your big news, or if you're just having some engagement photos taken then make a t-shirt with some iron on vinyl or fabric pens, or buy a pre-made one like this one from Redbubble below.
7. Custom Mug/Phone Case
If a T-shirt isn't your thing and you want to show off your bling to the world, then a mug, phone case or something you can hold with your ring finger in show is a great way to make the big announcement.
They also make a great gift for those recently engaged! Get this one from Redbubble too.
8. Write on a bauble
For lots of people who get engaged around the festive season, use what you already have and write on a bauble or buy one especially for your tree.
These ones below from Treeworthy on Etsy even personalise your bauble with the year so you can keep it as a reminder of your festive engagement for years to come. Also great as a gift for friends and family who pop the question around the holiday season.
If you do want to DIY it though, I have a video of how I personalised my own baubles this Christmas...
9. Write on the bottom of your shoes
Another really easy and quick way to make your announcement is to write on the bottom of your shoes - kinda like Woody from Toy Story but more romantic!
This works especially well for themed photos, like if you both wear cowboy boots. If you don't want to ruin your shoes though, get some shoe decals to stick on the bottom.
Love Life Lettering sell them on their Etsy store here
10. Picture of you both together
If you just can't wait to break the news, then the easiest thing to do is to get photos together, but they don't just have to be boring. Look on Pinterest for inspiration for some good poses...
The best thing about putting some effort into your engagement announcement photos, is that you take quite a few and then use them for Save the Dates, Invites and even as pictures to hang up on your big day.
