The 10 Best Wedding Theme Ideas for 2018

With 2017 drawing to a close, it's time to think about 2018, especially for those planning their big day.

Below I've made a list of some of the best Wedding Trends I think we're likely to see a lot of in the coming year...

1. Monochrome

There is nothing more classic than a white wedding, but add a touch of black and it becomes even more elegant. You don't need to go full on gothic (unless you want to!), you can just add some subtle touches like these place mats, some black flowers in your bouquet, black bridesmaid dresses...

Add a bit of gold too for some extra elegance and you have the perfect winter wedding theme.

2. Greenery

Greenery has already been quite big in 2017 but I'm sure the use of botanicals will continue to be popular.

You don't just need to add greenery in the way of plants, you can have green and white wedding invites, moss in your ring box, greenery attached to your wedding signage or sprigs attached to your place names. The ideas are endless...

3. Copper

Metallics make such a gorgeous colour palette for weddings, and you can find lots of items and ideas around that involve copper at the moment.

Copper accents in particular give a warming look and can be complimented with other details like greenery, marble or wood. You don't need to go full on copper either - just a few additions here and there will look incredible.

4. Blush Pink

Pink tones have been huge this year so no doubt they will continue to be incorporated into weddings next year. Mix up the shades of pink and add lots of white too for a subtle, elegant theme or add some full on neon for a modern twist.

Gone are the days when pink was just for girls! Have pink invites, centrepieces, bridesmaid dresses and ties, a pink wedding dress... and of course, pink popcorn!

5. Dark + Boho

'Boho' has been done a lot and in many different forms, but this darker edged bohemian trend is just gorgeous. By adding lots of burgundy, and dark purple accents, dark wood decor and having your ceremony outdoors with low lighting it gives such a romantic and stylish feel, and is perfect for a fall wedding.

Don't forget to make sure your photographer is able to add a moody filter to your photos too for maximum effect!

6. Clear & Minimal

Acrylic signs are already a big trend and incorporating even more glass and clear signs into every bit of the wedding is likely to be huge.

If you want to get your own perspex signage made, Love Life Lettering sells them on their Etsy store here and they can do Wedding menus, table plans or just a sweet love quote. Some people are even using perspex for the wedding invitations for a new but elegant twist.

7. Rainbow

Think pom poms, a huge variety of colourful flowers, mis-matching ties and bridesmaid dresses... If you're all about having a bright and colourful life then this totally non-traditional scheme could be the perfect one for you.

The best thing is, pom poms and lots of other colourful ideas are easy to make yourself, cutting the costs on your big day.

8. Enchantment

All weddings are magical, but if you want to add an extra bit of sparkle then incorporating fairy lights, a forest theme and wonderland details will make all the difference.

This is perfect for a small and intimate occasion. Use vintage dinnerware and re-purpose tree branches for that whimsical enchanted look.

9. Casual

For some, a big white wedding or country house location doesn't suit them at all. Making it a casual celebration is an easy and less expensive way to celebrate your love without going overboard.

Host it in a backyard, have lawn games, get a friend to DJ, order in a Pizza buffet, wear white sneakers... there are so many ways to keep it casual that can be mixed into other types of weddings too.

10. IRIDESCENT

To me, iridescent details are so 90s, and who didn't love the nineties! Such a fun way to add a bit of whimsy to your wedding, even if you only go for some small details like shoes and nails, to a full on holographic dress.

Also a great theme for bridal showers and bachelorette parties, there are going to be plenty of personalised mermaid items out there for all of the Ariel wannabes.

You don't have to choose just one idea or theme, mix them up a bit to create something completely unique to you both.
