1. Foiling
Foiled invites are so elegant, and are an easy way to add class to otherwise simply designed invitation suites.
It is also something you can do yourself, check out this tutorial for 5 different ways to DIY foil...
...or buy pre-designed ones like the below from WhiteInvitations
2. Travel passport
This is an obvious one if you're getting married abroad but it also works if you're having a travel theme, or you're both lifelong adventurers.
Adding a map as an envelope liner is also such a lovely touch... if you want to make your own, check out my tutorial here: How To Make Your Own Envelope Liners
3. Fancy Sleeve
If you already have your invitations designed but want to add something a bit extra, then consider a fancy paper cut sleeve like this one below from BWeddingInvitations
Or if you want to make your own invitation sleeves, then consider getting a Cricut machine or a Silhouette Cameo! You can make all of your invites using it, but there are also 1000 different things you can do with them, and you can use them for the rest of your wedding decor too. Take a look at the Cricut website for more info.
4. Perspex
How unforgettable would this be! Perspex just looks so good used as wedding signage, so why not use it for your invitations too.
5. Illustrated
This is such an adorable idea, and there are loads of illustrators out there with different styles that can design you something that is completely unique.
6. Watercolour
If you have a specific colour theme already in mind for your wedding, then watercolour is a gorgeous way to add that theme to your invites. You could also use some hand crafted/torn paper, or foiling like the below from PolkaDotPaperUK for an extra touch of elegance.
7. Something Edible
This is probably the invite I would be most excited to receive! Obviously make sure that the details are on something that your guests can keep, but why not add in a little something extra as a sweet treat, or go all out chocolate factory themed and wrap a bar in these amazing Willy Wonka Golden Ticket wrappers from HeartInvites
8. Wood
If you're planning a rustic wedding, then start early with the wooden theme. You could use offcuts of wood that are drawn on, or get some laser cut like the below from AmazingWoodCraft
9. Tell Your Story
Design a wedding infographic or write the story of how you both met into your invitation... this is especially good if one of you is a graphic designer, but you can get them pre-made, like these adorable ones from DesignsByJSue
10. Digital
Or skip the physical invites altogether and make an unforgettable e-vite and/or wedding website. Say I Do offer a free website service that lets you collect RSVPs and organise your guest list.
