The 10 Best Gifts for the Father of the Groom or Bride

Continuing my gift guide series this week, I've put together some of the best ideas to give the father of the bride/groom on your wedding day.

Even if your father isn't footing the bill, you can still treat him and the man who raised your love to something special as a thank you for everything they have done.

1. Picture Frame

Get an engraved photo frame, or just a plain one and put a photo of you and your dad together on your big day in it after the wedding.

This is one of the easiest, but probably the most sentimental gift you can give. For the father of the groom, add a picture of him and his son instead.

2. Handkerchief

If your dad or dad-in-law is a particularly emotional one, why not get them a personalised handkerchief to treasure as a keepsake forever.

Match it to your wedding colours so they can remember the big day forever. This one below is fully personalised from Xanbiandmedesigns on Etsy.

3. Socks

Men can never have too many pairs of socks. So what would be better than a pair of personalised ones especially for walking down the aisle.

These ones from snugahug also have a personalised label on them too.

4. A Framed Quote, Poem or Song Lyrics

Frame the lyrics from your dance together, your favourite poem or a quote that captures your relationship in a suitable colour scheme that can be hung in a house or office.

This one from A1HeartnHome is a gorgeous example using the lyrics from Luther Vandross's Dance With my Father.

5. An Experience

If you and your dad, or dad to be, aren't the sentimental type then treating them to an experience might be the perfect gift.

Give them a flying lesson, a hot air balloon ride, a drive in a really fast car or a tour around their favourite local sports ground.

6. Tools

If the dads are avid handymen, then there are a great selection of personalised tools you can buy online, making your gift not only thoughtful but practical too.

This all in one gadget from LeverGear is a useful addition to the tool box.

7. Gift box

If you want to truly personalise your gift, then why not make them a box full of all of their favourite things. Add in coffee, alcohol, chocolate, biscuits, a personalised mug for good measure and something to do with their favourite sport, like golf balls for example.

Personalise a card to put inside or personalise the box itself, and that's it sorted!

8. A Watch

If you really want to push the boat out and treat your old man, then why not spoil them with a classic watch.

Get it engraved or gift it in a personalised box for an extra special touch and it will make the perfect keepsake that they can treasure forever.

9. Glass, Hip Flask and/or personalised bottle

If your father/father-in-law has a certain drink they love, or aren't shy of a tipple, then get them a personalised glass, hip flask or a bottle of their favourite complete with a custom label.

There are loads of options available online, like this whisky glass above from Dustyroadgurl on Etsy

10. Tie Pin or Cufflinks

If you want to stick to a traditional and classic gift, then a tie pin or cufflinks that you can give your dad/s on the morning of the big day to wear is a great choice.

Again, there are loads of custom gifts available online, like these adorable ones from Rosie's Design Studio - or just get some that match your wedding theme to keep it simple.

Of course, a lot of these gifts can be given year round to a dad or father-in-law so save this post for future when you might be stuck for Christmas presents or birthday gift ideas too.
